The Guide in AAC at the Utopia Exhibition in Castello d’Albertis, Genoa

Genoa Post

We are happy to present the guide in symbols that Solidarietà e Lavoro,  leader of the European project “A.A.C.cessible Culture museums for everyone developing the Alternative Augmentative Communication Tools”, created for the “Sweet table” section of the Utopia exhibition in Castello D’Albertis in Genoa (Italy). Castello D’Albertis is one of the Genoese museums by its very nature more attentive to the themes of inclusion, and accessibility and has welcomed the First experimentation of our project. In fact, the A.A.C.cessible Culture project aims to make museum contents accessible to people with different communication difficulties, thanks to the potentially universal language of Augmentative Alternative Communication (AAC), allowing them to fully experience the cultural dimension.

Thanks to this guide in AAC, created specifically to get to know the characters born from the imagination of David Mc Kee, the exhibition will also be inclusive for people with cognitive disabilities or non-Italian native speakers. Words, symbols, gestures, and images come together and mix to create a bridge to better understand art and express ourselves through it.
